About Us
History of eC Theory 2 Practice
The co-owners of Early Childhood Theory 2 Practice Professional Development met in a graduate school class at Texas Woman’s University in the summer of 2011. Once paired together on project, they realized they shared a love of the early childhood field and recognized a need for increased professional development opportunities south of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Thus, Early Childhood Theory 2 Practice Professional Development was born.

Dr. Lisa Taylor Cook
Hello! I’m Dr. Lisa Taylor Cook and I’ve worked in early childhood programs, family childcare, and public schools. While working in public schools, I taught children with special needs in both self-contained and inclusive classrooms. For the past 15 years, I have worked in the early childhood field in private, public, military, and family child care homes. As an assistant director and training and curriculum specialist, I enjoyed working with children, parents, and teachers. My enjoyment of training transferred into teaching pre-service teachers and caregivers at a community college on military bases and now in Texas. I have also taught child development classes at Texas Woman’s University. I currently am an Assistant Professor at a local University. I earned a BS with an emphasis in Special Education from the University of Maryland at College Park, a MA in Education/Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Development and Education from Texas Woman’s University. I have presented at both local and state conferences on various topics related to the fields of early childhood education and child development.
